Monday Nook

This Monday's Nook can be found on page 150 of this month's Australian 'Home Beautiful' ....my old pantry, now owned by someone else....and most likely not featuring my Masterfoods slow cooker recipe bases! How embarrassment. I should have tidied up the pantry drawers before they took the photos. Recipe bases, tuna, arborio rice, two minute noodles! What was I thinking? Where was I?

Anyway, good old Home Beautiful is the 'gift that keeps on giving'...the glamour continues! You can find the whole pantry feature above in the September Home Beautiful, on the shelves now.

Monday again! Boy the weekends go fast! We had a great weekend.......friends birthday parties, soccer games, family time and sailing trips....and I got some seriously delicious time to myself, which I have been missing since my solo trip to New York and The Hamptons ....two weeks ago now! Do you scheme time by yourself?... I'm getting really good at it now! ....any excuse!

I have lots to talk about this week...lots of blog fodder, thanks to my trip. I will share some more of the Hampton Designer Showhouse and a beautiful interiors shop in New York that stopped me in my tracks!

Have great day! Happy Monday!

A-M xx

P.S. I know, I'm using Blogsy again. We've made up. Sort of. It's ok when you only have one photo to load up!

Blogsy It Is

Testing from Blogsy now. That's better! Bigger photos! Now you can see the pressed metal ceiling in all its glory! .... And oh those lights! Will come back here to practise some more tonight! A-M xx

Kitchen Furniture

I found the kitchen that belongs to this beautiful antique armoire that I have been coveting!
I so love that soft grey-blue colour.
Isn't it wonderful how the cabinetry just hugs it tight?

I'd almost forgo a Butler's pantry for that gorgeous armoire smack bang in the middle of it all.

Check out the stove!.... flanked by beautiful double hung windows of course!

I love this kitchen! It has the same layout as my old one.. sort of..... in a more glamorous fashion!

See? Twins!

I seriously love kitchen furniture....

... and I needed to tell you that this morning!

Happy Tuesday!

Could You Do Blue?

Look at this beautiful blue kitchen by Arent and Pyke.
It's such a perfect blue for a beach house.

It takes guts to do a coloured kitchen.
This is my my most favourite blue kitchen in the universe.
Big statement but true.

Look at those transoms!

Gorgeous.
Could you do blue?

The last weekend before we move house. I am getting up close and personal with cardboard boxes today. I need to go and buy the Saturday papers... as I have run out of packing paper for the last few things not ensconced in boxes yet.

Happy Saturday!

Little Kitchen

The latest issue of 'House Of Fifty' is out and it features this sweet little kitchen, in a one bedroom condo in San Francisco. The sink area was designed to resemble a hutch. Doesn't it?!... with it's glass fronted doors giving it a real furniture feel. I LOVE the grey tiles and the elegant bench top. Will I ever tire of grey and white? Ever?

High ceilings, vintage chandelier, transoms and lots of light. Who says you need lots of space for glamour? Some wonderful inspiration for my next project.

Take a peek at the bathroom. Cabinetry, tiles, fixtures? ... perfection.

You can find more of this beautiful space HERE.

Oh and there are heaps more beautiful kitchens to drool over in that issue as well!

Happy Friday!

We had our Australia Day holiday here yesterday. We made the most of the break in the rain and headed out to our nearest National Park for a BBQ picnic... and to look for bugs. The streams were roaring due to the recent rains so the boys were in their element.... but boy, was it humid! The rain is back today, with the forecast of a cyclone developing up north. Hmmm....my little lad heads off on school camp next week. I will be biting my nails if this weather keeps up. :(

Monday Nook

Oooh, I love a good 'Kitchen Office Nook'. This one is very stylish.. and obviously not used as a paper/letter/mail/'pocket-junk' dumping ground ... which most kitchen office nooks risk becoming.

I love the black and white contrast, the rustic table, the deep transoms and the high ceilings.... and look at all that glorious storage! Those drawers look like they might even be filing cabinet drawers... now there's an idea!

I am seriously incorporating an 'Office Nook' in my next kitchen. Do you have a 'Kitchen Office Nook'? Does it work for you? Is it easy to keep tidy? ... or does it accumulate 'stuff'?
Would love to know if it works.... or if it just looks glamorous in the mags and is not really practical.

Another rainy day here. Showering on and off. Everyone is whinging about the weather.... and waffling on about how can we not be having our usual unbearable, stinking hot, humid, early December days?
I seriously love it. It's so nice and cool! The storms are great too. Love them. I accidentally rode through one yesterday. Thank goodness there was no lightning. #stormgirl

Happy Monday!

Glass Kitchen Pendant Lights

I had a bit of 'catastrophe' over at my Pinterest account this week. My pinboards experienced a name change? for some strange reason, and then they ceased to exist and no-one could access them. I salvaged what I could.... but learnt the hard way that you can't save a pin... from a pin, listed in your pins... if it theoretically 'no longer exists' as a pin. As a result of the time I spent, rescuing my favourite Pinterest images, I reckon I have some serious skills in the 'Surviving A Pinterest Catastrophe' department now.

This image, I was afraid I would never find again. I love it. It is not the usual 'white on white' kitchen I usually drool over. I love the contrasting black and white, the symmetry and those glass lights. I am currently in the midst of a glass light obsession.... and I am so going to do similar to the above in my next kitchen. I have my eye on my Dijon French Lights in the clear glass. These ones:

I love their gorgeous shape... with the little 'hat' on the top.

You can see the shape a little better in the silver version:

Sigh. I love them.
I only sell what I seriously love to bits.
You can get them HERE.

Don't quote me on this, but I reckon they are the next big thing..... delicate, elegant glass kitchen pendant lights. Ok, but then, these could be big too:

I am SERIOUSLY in love with these. I am thinking of getting my hands on some. What do you think? Would they take off here?

I'm off for my run now, before it gets light. Boy, it was a shocker yesterday. 36 degrees. I rode into town to stock up on some more Nespresso and to save on '$50 a minute' car parking fees. It was seriously hot. I came home and jumped straight in the pool to cool down... and then drank my body weight in water.

Another hot one is forecast today. I love reading all about the freezing cold in my Northern Hemisphere bloggy friend's blogs. I'm a cold kinda gal. How am I going to survive this summer? How to stay active in this heat? Why do I live in Brisbane again? I ask myself the same question every summer. I sort of forget how bad it is during our mild winters. Ok, gritted teeth.... out into it!

Happy Wednesday!
