Bag Ladies

These gorgeous Fabruckets (thanks Charlotte!) were made today during a lovely crafting lunch with some lovely ladies. Charlotte and Maria are Halfpenny regulars so when they said they would love to bring along some friends for a creative afternoon I suggested that we all have lunch at the studio.
Charlotte's is on the left with some rather lovely grey bobble trim and her friend Helen's is on the right with the great big coconut shell button.
Maria had to leave early as she had to do the school run so hers is 'in progress' but she will finish it soon. She's busy getting all her things ready for the Vintage and Craft Fair tomorrow 11 am - 4 pm.
Bobby is finishing her unlined shoulder bag at home as she was distracted by a crate of handmade beads...mine is unfinished because I was laughing too much and eating cake!
Last time...

Charlotte and Maria brought along Maria's mother Catalina and she made this gorgeous bag and I hear she has been showing it off at every opportunity!
Charlotte made this one for Helen as a present - what a lovely present!
Finally, here is Maria's made in an early 80's Sanderson chintz.
It was such a nice day, I've loved every minute. Nic x

what we did at the weekend

Made some bags, rode our bikes to a festival, had a picnic and did some knitting. Lovely! Hope you had a good weekend too, Nicola x

I'm full of tea and cake and I'm knitting - it's lovely!

This was the answer I had from Tina last Wednesday morning when I asked her if she was ok. I've been thinking about it all week and it still makes me smile!
We love making stuff at Halfpenny Home and the rose bag with the bamboo handles is one of my favourite makes at the moment. This is how I get people to cut fabric and learn to thread up a machine. With frequent applications of tea and cake the end result is a lovely handcrafted item of which you can feel very very proud and smug. The next bag class is Saturday 5th June 1.30 pm - 4.30 pm.
Hand-knitted bed socks = luxury for feet! How lovely would it be to knit some socks for someone you love very much? This pair have been in the shop for a while, but I knitted them for my mum so that when she gets back to the UK she will have cosy toes. We are starting a sock class on Friday 4th June 1.30 pm and the following two weeks. We will be knitting a pair of these together and if you would like to join us then please do get in touch for details.
Finally a photo of Button, anyone who has popped in to see us at Halfpenny Home has been introduced to Button and captivated by her and her fluffiness. She is just so lovely and here is also a photo of her when she was just 10 days old and tiny. Isn't she gorgeous? Nicola x
