Here's a rather woeful 'before shot', featuring 'woeful niece'.....
... and stinky soccer boots...
Here's the after!
Oh how I stalked that Masters website, waiting for their 'new season' outdoor furniture stock to come in, hoping that the most coveted 'Romeo' outdoors chairs weren't the last on the delivery truck for the new season!
Late last week they finally arrived and I pounced! I ordered them online immediately, so as not to miss out, just in case hundreds of people were stalking along with me, but I arranged to pick them up from the store to save on delivery costs. I wanted to spend every last cent of my Masters vouchers on pretties.
Behold their magnificence! (Ref: FF, 2010)
They are wrought iron, solid as and, at $135 each, a fantastic quality buy.
In deciding what I would purchase for my outdoor room makeover, I kept in mind that it all needed to be portable as we move lots! My furniture choices also had to fit into any design aesthetic I may be embracing in future digs.... Hamptons, French Provincial. Once I spied the classic lines of the Romeo chairs and saw that the included cushions were piped!, I decided that a leafy French Provincial courtyard dining area was the go...... somewhere nice I could blog from in the mornings too!
I decided on a 4 seater table setting, mainly due to the small size of the area.... but also keeping in mind that anywhere I live in future I would always be able to use a classical 4 seater setting.... in another courtyard or down amongst the fairies in a pretty garden.
I went to town with the pots.
I needed to draw the attention away from the underwhelming fence, not highlight it with anything.
I picked up the table for $69! I didn't put a cloth on it in the photos so you could see it's detail. I chose it for it's price and curves and the fact that it is simple in style and doesn't take any focus off the chairs. It's solid too!.... won't blow away in our summer storms!
See the white filigree, round, clay thingy? That's a solar powered table light. It has a solar panel on the top that you leave in the sun and as soon as the sun sets, it turns itself on! You can choose to set it to either white or rainbow colours. The rainbow colours are a hit with the offspring.
Solar Filigree Table Light
So there you have it, my new 'Outdoor Room'. Thank you so much Masters for giving me the opportunity and the vouchers! to make over my dull courtyard. I have an inspiring place in which to blog and a cool spot for our summer dinners!I found the elegant 'half mat', near the door, at Masters too.... $10! Perfect size for a little courtyard. It hasn't made it to the website yet. More and more products are being loaded up every day as they arrive in store.
The patterned dinner plates were $3 each from 'Earthborn' (current sale stock) and the glass dessert bowls, dinner plates and place mats are my own. They were originally from Wheel and Barrow. The napkins are from 'Thea and Sami', Thea's Marine range, hand printed here in Brisbane. The navy floral cushions are from 'Fabric Traders', who also have an online store HERE. The beige linen and paisley cushions are from Cape Cod Designs (that would be me). So is the iron side table, hurricane lantern and the floor cushions (Cape Cod Designs, moi). Flowers were from 'Stem - Flowers and Beautiful Things' in Graceville.
And in breaking news, the winner of the $500 Masters Gift Voucher was chosen by Masters, from my short list of three. It is Karyn, who wrote:
Karyn is going to use her Masters voucher to finish her powder room and outdoor patio area.
Karyn finally chose the Del Terra Steel Cushioned Dining Chair Set to finish off her outdoor area. 6 for $280! HERE.
And for her bathroom, she is going to wallpaper with Vintage Art Wallpaper.... $49.97/roll....
.... gorgeous!
.... hang this beautiful mirror.... $149, HERE....
... and finish with some stylish fixtures, HERE.
Hooray for Masters. I'm totally hooked. So many quality products. They have everything you need to improve your home. Here's their website if you need to start shopping now. It's such an site easy to use.
Herbs are happy in their new sunny spot.....
.... and so am I!
Cheers!

As you know, I have jumped on this 'Spring Cleaning/Decluttering Bandwagon' with gusto.
No corner of my little home has been spared.... pared down to within an inch of it's life!
Oh what a tangled web I wove.
Let's see how long this neatness will last.
Oh I was ruthless with my make-up drawer!
Those 'minimalists' are right. You only need one of what you need.
Seriously culled.
So when Masters Home Improvement asked me if I was up for a 'Spring Room Makeover' in my home, I jumped at the chance....an opportunity to 'refresh' an area of my home that seriously needs it. Out with the old and in with the new, as they say.
Thanks to Masters, I have been given vouchers to make over an area of my home! I know! Hooray! ... and I get to do it from my sofa and shop for it all online.
As we are temporarily in our abode, until we move closer to the boys new schools next year, my makeover has to be portable.... so I chose my non existent outdoor area to 'refresh'. Bit of an easy 'before' shot ... as my outdoor area is sadly lacking .... well, actually, it's non existent ... as all my outdoor furniture stayed with 'The House' when it was sold.
My sweet little niece has been helping me decide what we should do about this area.
Love another girl's input. Not too many girls around here.
So I set myself my own brief ... makeover a little slab of tiled concrete, outside my dining area, where the stinky soccer boots go, when they're too bad to even leave in the garage ... and where the Eastern Brown snakes slither up along the side of the house to settle in under the hot water system. It has to be a portable makeover ... everything has to be able to be relocated to my next 'little outdoor area'... which I have yet to meet!
I have been seriously stalking the Masters Website... which is growing by the day. Every time I head over there, there are new goodies.
I'm so going to be using these somewhere, for sure. HERE.
... with these on top. HERE.
Love a good Ligustrum Ball. Even better when they are not alive and you can't kill them!
Now, you know how I feel about THESE, as I have been scheming something with these since my Masters Fathers Day Post. They are the New Season stock, due in any day now. Yeah, I'm stalking. Kathy, from Masters Home Improvement, Tingalpa and I?... instant new best friends. She's going to let me know when they come in. I think they are timeless... I can see them in a French garden, on a Hamptons deck or even on a tiled concrete slab outside a Brisbane home in a snake ridden, leafy suburb!
Masters have New Season stock arriving daily, right up until Christmas. I so hope my coveted 'French' chairs weren't the last on the truck.
Look, they even have little adirondacks for the kidlets HERE. So cute! I digress.
I'm also keen to fit a BBQ in this area too, somehow.... to ensure that we use our new space often.
This beauty is only $146....
...or should I get a Weber?
Easier to tuck in a corner? Doesn't overwhelm the tiny space.
Tell me.
But wait there's more! Here's the best bit! Masters are going to give one of my lucky readers a $500 voucher to do the very same.. makeover an area of their home with all the fabulous products from the Masters website. You can choose any room inside or outside your home.
All you have to do, to win a $500 Masters voucher, is leave a comment on this post in the comments section, stating your favourite pick/s from the Masters website, HERE, and how you would use that item/items to refresh the look of your home. Easy!
You can decorate your home with wallpaper, paint, carpet, rugs, floor, wall and ceiling lighting, cushions, joinery, outdoor furniture and even partitions from Masters. Masters has over 35,000 products in store and more than 15,000 of them are now online.... heaps to choose from!
Masters will draw a winner from a short list I pick from your entries. Entries close 5pm, 24th September.... and the following week, I'll share with you my little Masters Spring Makeover!
Have fun, good luck.... and Happy Spring!

I jumped at the chance to do this Father's Day post for 'Masters Home Improvement'. It has given me a wonderful opportunity to publicly declare my love for someone very special in my life ......and get him some spectacular goodies, from Masters, for Father's Day too. Bonus! ... the post that has everything!
The wonderland that is 'Gran and PaPa's place'.
New husband aside (ha!)...this special person I refer to is my darling step-dad, Tom. He has been in my life since I was a troubled teenager and he's still here! That says a lot! He shed tears of happiness for me at my wedding 15 years ago and I still see him sneak a tear in, here and there, when something fills him with joy these days. Yep, my forthright, Scottish, Step-Dad is a softie with a heart of gold. He's also the best Grandad my adventurous boys could have ever wished for.
It doesn't go unnoticed by me that he never seems to be around, when I drop the boys down to stay with him and my Mum...... as he is out at the shops stocking up on all their favourite treats!!!... stringy cheese for the little one, special yoghurts and chocolate for the big one .... and fruit juice!... which we don't have at home and apparently is the requested fuel for all the tree climbing that goes on, down by the dam.
Playing outside 'PaPa's Shed'!
Tom helps my boys build the most wonderful tree houses and lets them rummage for anything they want in 'PaPa's shed'. The treehouse is an eyesore but he doesn't touch it when my boys aren't there. He lovingly keeps it in 'shrine status' until the boys turn up for their next visit!
My boys love how naughty PaPa is behind Gran's back too. They head to the movies, with strict dietary instructions from Gran, and then delight in the bags and bags of lollies that appear from PaPa's 'special esky'! The lollies are consumed, unbeknownst to Gran, with no consumption limits whatsoever!
"Mum, when I sit in his chair, he pulls my ears and bangs my head with a plate". "And he cheats in all our games". "He tries to trip me when I walk past", giggles the little one.... "and he knows I hate spiders so he teases me with them". PaPa finds the best computer game bargains on eBay too and is always surprising my boys with the latest up to date version of whatever is cool and current in my boys' lives. He takes them for walks with dangerous long walking sticks, accompanied by his ever faithful companion, 'Tess The Dog', and rummages through all the cheap toys at the markets with my boys every weekend they happen to be staying with him. Oh, and PaPa makes the BEST pizzas in the world' apparently.
I told my boys I was doing this post, dedicated to PaPa, and I asked them what they got up to with PaPa when I am not around. They said, after spilling the beans, "make sure you mention how much we love him too". My heart burst.
So Father's Day is going to be a biggie this year for me, as I am ever so grateful for the father figure in my life.... and my boys adored Grandad. It is very timely that Masters Home Improvement have declared this Father's Day a 'Sock, Jock and Tie FREE Zone'. Masters Home Improvement really is the 'Ultimate Dad's Shed' where you can now find more than 13,000 products online from the comfort of your, 'never knowingly undercushioned', lounge. (in joke, ref: FF, 2010).
Tom/PaPa loves any sort of outdoor entertaining, as long as it involves a BBQ with sizzling steaks, family around, noisy little grandchildren on noisy motorised cars..... with handstanding granddaughters and soccer ball kicking grandsons.
Mum and Tom have an archaic outdoor dining table which wobbles when you sit at it but you just have to pretend you don't notice the wobble or Gran gets all defensive and sentimental about her beloved table and argues with PaPa about getting a new one.
I would love get PaPa this new season setting, from Masters. No more wobbly table arguments!
New Season Stock, Coming Soon, HERE
Look Mum, you can even add your beloved benches to it!
Table, New Season Stock, Coming Soon, HERE.
Reminds me of the beautiful English garden I sat in recently, in Southampton, NY, to eat my breakfast.
Seriously digressing!
Grandhall Pizza Oven, Coming Soon! - HERE.
Oh, how PaPa would be in his element with a pizza oven! I reckon he could even better his pizzas in this! Family days would take on a new meaning!
Del Terra Outdoor Wheeled Kitchen, New Season Stock, Coming Soon - HERE
I betcha PaPa would love this rustic outdoor kitchen too. It would suit the farm/country aesthetic they have going on down there to a T!... and keep all the cooking paraphernalia organised. It's a production, alright!
Ok, so maybe I'm going a bit overboard, redesigning my parents' whole outdoor entertaining space! With smaller gifts in mind, Masters also have an online gift guide and have sorted potential gifts for your Dad into: Gifts Under $25, Gifts Under $50, Gifts Under $100 and Gifts Over $100. As I know PaPa has been known to peruse my blog from time to time, we have already selected our gifts from these guides and we are not announcing them here!
Masters also have a Pinterest page full of ideas of great things you can do with Dad to keep him happy on the big day! I am so impressed. Everyone is embracing Pinterest! I'm a follower. DIY is going to feature big time in my life this year... so Masters is going to be my inspiration. They have DIY tips and even interior design tips popping up on their Pinterest page all the time, HERE.
And to top it all off, if you think your Dad needs a shed full of stuff to keep him occupied, then enter the Masters Father's Day Competition, on their Facebook page HERE, by posting a picture of your Dad (or Grandad!) and in 25 words or less tell them why you love him to bits! I'm entering! Or maybe I should just cut and paste this post!?!
You never know, your Dad could end up with a shed full of great products from Masters ... isn't that what all Dads want? ... a shed full of 'great stuff'?!
And lastly, I have to mention the fact that my boys have their wonderful Dad back in their daily lives now too. Extra special Father's Day celebrations for us this year!
Thank you Masters, for the opportunity to participate in your Father's Day celebrations! Seriously perfect timing!
Do you have a special father figure in your life who you want to spoil on Father's Day? Would love to hear your Dad/Grandad stories. When you post a pic and story, over on the Masters Facebook page HERE, let me know too!
